Birthday in Bristol

Top ASOS
Skirt Topshop
Shoes Bershka
Necklace Primark
Bag Internacionale

Last night I went out in Bristol to celebrate my upcoming birthday. Sadly I only have this one quite blurry and hastily snapped photo to show what I wore (thanks Kellie!), but I liked my outfit so wanted to post it anyway. I very much enjoy going out in Bristol, it's so cheap compared to London, and so easy to get around, especially when your boyfriend takes you and picks you up :)! Every time I go back there's always new bars and clubs that have opened so it's a different night out every time.

I love this bag, this summer I became a bit obsessed with holographic accessories a la Stella McCartney, so this is perfect! It's also really roomy and fits loads of crap  essentials.

So tomorrow is my birthday, I'm gonna be such an old bear, however I conducted a survey on my night out and am happy to report that the feedback left me with an average age of about 23. Thanks people of Bristol!

A late OOTD

Blazer Internacionale
T-shirt Topshop
Shorts Topshop

Bag Primark
Shoes New Look

My boyfriend quickly snapped this outfit for me before we went to a pub quiz in central London with a couple of friends (sadly we did not win), which ended up as a night out at the Roxy. I am a bit in love with these shoes from New Look, I think they give outfits a sophisticated touch whilst still being fairly comfortable. They were so painful when I first wore them however, I was walking along Oxford Street and my toes were literally bleeding. Nothing some blister plasters couldn't fix, now they don't hurt at all! It's all about getting back on the horse and riding through the pain. Haha!

I actually wore this outfit quite a few weeks ago now, but I've only just put up the photos as I've been on holiday :) Me and my boyf went to Zante, and we returned this morning. Boo! We stayed in a part of the island called Tsilivi, which is not the mental rave-y bit, pretty much full of old(er) people, who appeared to mostly be called Sandra. We went on a trip to see some turtles, hired a quad bike for the day, went to a super cool water park and mostly just chilled out by the pool/sea (which is SO clear).

So from tomorrow, it's back to normal life and back to work. However I'm taking full advantage of my day off today- I'm currently wearing a bright blue onesie and I'm about to paint my nails (I gave them a break during our holiday which is unheard of for me!) whilst catching up on my 1000+ blog posts- perfect!

Looks Loved: August 2013

Most of my favourite looks this month are from celebrities, with only one blogger which is unusual for me. Maybe everyone is fed up of putting effort into dressing summery when they're just itching to be able to wear jumpers, boots and coats!

First of my faves is Ellie Goulding in this Amato Couture by Furne One dress. I love the colour, the neckline (I'm a sucker for a high neck) and the studding. This is what I would also wear if I was going to a not-too-posh  red carpet event (cos the invites are flooding in). It's cool and fresh and I love it. The only thing I'm not keen on is the shoes.

Another look from the MTV VMAs- Joan Smalls in Viktor and Rolf. Love that this is simple but striking at the same time. This dress looks like it was made for her, and the footwear choice is a lesson on how to pull off knee high gladiator sandals.

I am a big fan of Lily Collins' wardrobe-she is fast becoming one of my style icons, and this is my favourite look of the month. The top and skirt combo from Bec & Bridge’s Resort 2014 looks effortless, I love the colours, the accessories and her hair and make up are flawless as always. I would like to shake her stylist's hand!

I do bang on about it all the time but I love simple looks that still make a statement- Sarah Gadon in Mulberry being a prime example. I can't say I know who she is but I know that she is totally working super dark lips and that cute-as-a-button dress. I would have chosen some shoes with a bit more sex appeal to accompany the make up but I am still a big fan of this outfit.

Finally, not so much a look but I wanted to include this as I think this photo from Lily's blog is adorable. I'm not a massive fan of floral crowns but I'm drawn to this monochrome one as it feels a bit more sophisticated than most, plus it looks gorge paired with these oversized round sunglasses. I very much enjoy the angle of the photo too! Lily's blog is one of my favourites, I've been reading it for years and although her style is not particularly out there, she always styles pieces in a way that make me want to buy them. She's very relatable.

What looks have you loved this month?

August Round-up

August

All the things that didn't need a blog post to themselves.

1. Me and my boyfriend at a wedding- My dress is TFNC  (but I got it from ASOS) and my clutch is from New Look. Side note: Am I the only one who pronounces it A-S-O-S, as in the individual letters?

2. Monochrome drippy and glitter mix with triangle gems. LOVE this combo (If I do say so myself!)

3. An outfit I wore out to meet some friends one evening. Shirt is from Topshop (but I got it for £4 at Battersea car boot sale), shorts are from Internacionale. I am also wearing my beloved Wild Fox ring but you can't see it.

4. Nude nails with gold glitter on top.

5. Birthday cheesecake I made for my sister, it was honey and pistachio flavour.

6. A casual outfit for a day in the park with my boyf. Jumper from Wildfox, shorts again from Internacionale. As you can see, these shorts have been a big hit with me this month!

7. Another casual outfit which I wore to traipse round Homesense and Asda with my mum (glam alert). Top-Internacionale, Jeans- Topshop, Satchel-Primark. Is anyone else's mum obsessed with Homesense? Whenever I go back to Bristol the house is full of bags from Homesense- if she's not buying it all she's taking it all back to exhange for more! To be fair it does have some bargains (it is the same company as TK Maxx dontcha know) including various antlers/stag heads which I am determined to display in our flat one day.

So summer 2013 has come to an end. I'm sad that the nights will be drawing in, the mornings will be dark and that I will have to start putting on tights (I hate tights). But I am looking forward to snuggling, purchasing a new coat/new boots and my birthday :)!

It Was My Mom's in the 80s

Kimono Vintage
Cami ASOS
Disco Pants American Apparel
Shoes New Look
Necklace River Island
Rings River Island/H&M

'OMG I love your skirt, where did you get it?'
'It was my mom's in the 80s'
'Vintage...so adorable'
'Thanks!'
'...That is the ugliest effing skirt I've ever seen'

If you don't know which film that quote is from, firstly I am ashamed and disappointed and secondly I suggest you go and watch Mean Girls right now. NOW.

But seriously, this kimono was my mum's (maybe a little earlier than the 80s!) and I definitely don't think it's effing ugly, I think it's effing beaut. I think she picked it up in India on her travels when she was younger, and now I have stolen  inherited it. I find it a bit difficile to outfit build with as it is so colourful so I thought I would make it the statement in an all black outfit. I also want to invest in this cute playsuit as the colour would allow the pink in the floral embroidery to stand out.

Update on my previous OOTD post, I have found both my moisturiser (in the wardrobe abyss as predicted) and my camera charger (behind my mirror-obviously) so at least today as been productive. I also went to my boyfriend's sisters for a BBQ which was lovely, there was even a cake in the shape of a penis. I kid you not-see my instagram to witness it in its full glory (@iwishicouldwink).

I hope everyone had a fun-filled weekend :)
